    Has anyone been able to remove the tripod collar at home, or will my lens need to go to nikon for this?

  2. I took mine to my local camera shop, and they removed it. Cost me about $25.

  4. I'm not sure, since I dropped it off and picked it up later. I am guessing that they bascially took the back of the lens apart.

  5. I took mine a while ago ti the local Nikon subsidiary and after an hour of waiting or so they took it off professionally and for free! Good job from Nikon. However, I have tried this by myself the evening before and got into big troubles after having opened the back cover of the lense. Cannot recommend to anybody to do this yourself unless you really know how to!
