Ikelite D70 Housing - Focus Mode Selector Switch - Caution

  1. Ikelite D70 Housing - Focus Mode Selector Switch - Caution

Caution: The Focus Mode Selector Switch can be changed to M (manual Focus) with the same Ikelite housing control used for the lens release button. And, when setting up your camera in the housing it is possible to accidentally move this switch from AF to M. So double-check the setting when you have your rig together to avoid shooting in manual focus mode.

I know, because it happened to me today. The vis sucked but with hurricane Ivan looming in the forecast I decided to take pictures anyway. All of the pictures were blurred. No loss. But I was really worried. How did this happen? Then I saw that the selector was set to manual. I didn't do that. Or did I? A check with the camera in the housing answered the question. I did it when moved the housing control out into the open, away from the camera.

For now I plan to just be more careful. But putting a piece of tape over the switch may be a better idea ... I already have the popup flash taped down.
