  1. Any 1ds or 1dmII shooters

    hello.

im looking at getting a 1ds, how ever im not to sure if the difference when the 1ds mkII will be with the extra $$$ for the camera? I feel the 11 mp will be more than enough. Any help would be much app.

    Thanks in Advance

  2. Hello Arron,

I went with the Mark II and am waiting for my Seacam Housing. I was in your position last December when rumors were running about the new 1D. After handling the Mark II and seeing the prints at PMA in Vegas last February, I was sold. If I were looking today, I would wait for the 1Ds replacement which may be announced at the end of this month, before I decide.

The full frame sensor would be nice for wide angle but 90% of my shooting is macro and I use my Mark II for alot more than just U/W photography. I have had my Mark II since the end of April and LOVE it. I have printed out some amazing prints at 11 x 17 on an Epson 2200 from my Mark II files. I can't wait to get it wet.

  3. yes i read the post on the mk II link other day. I just wondering if i can get a good deal on a 1ds if the mk II would be that much better. like i said 11 mp is more than enough to make me happy just wanting to play both ends lol. my love is the little things (small minds like small things) i shoot in bonaire mostly been there 10 or 11 times. so i just dont know.

wish i knew specs so i could see what to do with out guessing.

  4. If history is an indicator, the 1Ds will not drop significantly in price before it is replaced. It might drop 5-10% more than it has, but Canon tends to deplete supplies of existing models before announcing the replacement model. That's why you see a lot of "Where can I find a Canon XYZ in stock?" type threads once the camera is nearing the end of it's lifecycle.

    Just my guess though...

  5. hooo humm, im just sitting here twisting my thumbs. i hope they release the specs on the 1ds this month so i cna find out what to do i read on dpreview the d2x nikon was released specs. Still like the cannons though.

Also keep in mind that historically, the replacement cameras are near the same price, or in some cases cheaper than their predecessors. I think buying a 1ds now would be a mistake, as it's getting long in the tooth, and it's replacement *probably* won't be a whole lot more.

  7. is the mark up on cameras like the mark up on dive gear? 100 % im not sure just thougth i would ask just for my fyi.
