Sea & Sea TTL

  1. Hi guys, Im shooting with a nauticam/Nikon Z7 with nauticam TTL trigger and sea & Sea strobes set to DS-TTL setting but the flash is completely blowing everything out.

I have macro port on and its daytime shooting at 75ft in clear conditions, but I cant work out why the flash is so strong that its massively overexposing everything.. after the shot the viewfinder is complete whiteout... have I misssd a setting? I basically just switched to manual and dialed down the settings and the strobes are fine, but the TTL is a nonstarter.

  2. Hey!

Can you set a minus flash compensation on the Z7? You could try, say, -3 and see how that works.

Or does the Nauticam TTL trigger have settings (maybe dip switches) for specific strobes and have you got those set right (sorry, I don't have a Nauticam system)?

  3. I tested Z7 camera with Nautican #26308 TTL-Converter previous week. TTL lighting worked normally. It is recommended to set -0.5Ev flash exposure compensation in menu, - this is right correction. Also, I advice to use "spot" type metering in that camera, to get maximum TTL accuracy.

By the way, last boards #26308 (manufactured since January) have updated firmware, Z7/Z6 cameras are automatically detected there, and -0.5Ev level is already preset as default zero setting for Z cameras. Those new boards don't need -0.5Ev correction for Z7.

Anyway, If your Z7 camera requires more than -0.5 Ev correction for TTL now, it means that something wrong in setup or wrong camera settings.

Do you have User's Manual for that TTL board #26308?

I can help to clarify the problem, if you want, in messenger.
