I had been testing the WWL-1 in terms of distortion https://interceptor121.com/2019/05/12/nauticam-wwl-1the-best-wide-angle-lens-for-underwater-video-on-the-gh5-and-other-micro-four-thirds/
And as per blog post the distortion is attenuated when operating in video mode so I started playing with aspect ratios in the encoder
The first video is the original as capture clip
The second is a DCI version that has the 4096x2160 aspect ratio but actually is the same 3840x2160 file
Altering the aspect ratio stretches the image 6.67% on the horizontal axis reducing the barrel distortion but not eliminating it completely
From what I can see this keeps the same image sharpness and reduces some undesired effect like the bend of the bottom line but is still better than a rectilinear lens when you have a pull at the edges when something exits the frame
I am interested in some feedback I really like the effect and I think I will produce all outputs in this format
