Advise on New Digital Camera Please

  1. Hello folks,

My first post at this forum, so I congratulate all of participants : I spent some hours reading and reading the old posts and learning from you guys.

I use a digital camera ( Olympus D900Z and Olympus C2500 ) and love them. Ok ok, they are not zillion mega pixels, but knowing them they do some good shots.

Anyway, I start diving some months ago ( on a 10 to 18 dives per month ) I know feel confident to take a camera and photograph everthing.

I like my D900 : unfortunatly the Olympus PT03 has been discontinued ages ago,and even I could find one now, I dont want to spend 300€ on a casing that doesnt have replacements parts.

So I considered buying a new combo : new camera+housing.

After weeks of reading and searching, my budget ( 1000€ for camera, 600€ for housing ) I got a winner, or at least I thing : Olympus 4040 + Ikelite.

What do you guys think ? Is there a better combination for around 1600/ 1700€/$ ?

Throw some pics of underwater 4040 shots plz :D

    Thank you all ,

  2. 1000 euros is high for that camera. Can you get it for less where you are? I paid lesss than $700 for mine. Also, the Oly 5050 has been announced which may cause a drop in price for the lower resolution models if you wait a little while.

If this is all the money you plan to spend, I would consider using less of it on the camera and housing and buy a strobe. That will make a far bigger difference in your photos than the camera or housing model.
