  1. bumblebee shrimp

I have posted this because this was a difficult shot to take - this was super skittish and the only shot that came out out of about 30 attempts (with a lot of help from a fellow photographer).

I am really interested on comments/suggestions on cropping - this is uncropped.

It really did not like any light being shone it at all - I don't know who was more stressed out after it all - the shrimp or me?

    (D70 and Nik 60mm)

    better quality version here..

  2. Beautiful shrimp! Where was this taken?

If you cropped it to about 1/2 the present size centered on the shrimp body it would look really great, but you're loosing alot of resolution.

  3. Hi Paul - Another superb shot. I like it uncropped. The small yet perfectly detailed shrimp on the background really gives a sense of scale & isolation. The background (a sea cucumber?) is equally well focused but not distracting.

The link to the gallery shot worked fine but I couldn't get into any of your other shots. Is the problem on my end or yours?

    Cheers, Leslie

  4. P.S. In scientific names the genus (& every higher rank) is always capitalized but the species name is lower case. I've noticed a lot of people tend to use capitals on both.

  5. Hi Leslie,

thanks, I am guilty of capitalizing both  . Am currently up to my neck in loading up new images from Lembeh and IDing them, so that may be the problem as I am in the site at the moment changing things - should be ok shortly when I log out.

Herb, Nudi Falls at Lembeh, cheers

    Paul

  6. Looks great!

If it was mine I'd be boring an rotate 90o CW and crop to leave the shrimp at the bottom of the frame.

    Cheers
