  1. hi all

looking into wide angle lenses there are wide angle and dome lenses what is the difference between them and benefits of the different lens. thanks

  2. Hey snapper.p

Folks mostly use either a wide-angle (known as rectilinear) or a fisheye which bends lines and is even wider. Which you might want depends on the type of images you want to take - and the camera body you are using.

Rectilinear is most used for bigger creatures which are not so close or where you need straight liens to be straight-ish. Say on wrecks. Fisheyes are brilliant where straight lines are not an issue and allow you to get really close. So, for example, divers on the reef.

For either of them you need a dome port.

Is that what you are thinking between "wide angle and dome lenses"?
