  1. hey guys,

i have a g16 that has out of no where the lens has got stuck. it still turn on but doesn't take long to turn off because the lens is stuck (reading -error)
i have visually checked and everything looks clean. but I'm wondering if it worth throwing or fixing if anyone has had the same issue.

    Chris

  2. Google is full of ideas like this one:  https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/22207/Lens+wont+retract+and+turns+off

and if you are felling adventurous you could search for a teardown video or guide such as this:  https://www.canonwatch.com/disassembly-repair-canon-powershot-g16/

The G16 was released in 2013 so it's even possible that Canon may no longer support it.   The cheapest option would probably be a second hand one on Ebay (assuming you have a housing for it and don't want to replace that).
