Nikon CP5000 Housing

  1. Hi all,

I'm a newbie on this forum. I still use argentic gear underwater but at this time I'm not ready to switch. I've found a housing for the CoolPix 5000 made by Hugyfot, a small german company. So having a fast autofocus, agentic's shutter time lag, a 5MP resolution and a wide lens adapter 19mm (35mm equivalent) underwater sound great. The price of the camera + housing will be near 3000 Euros (approx.: 2700 USD) so for now I'm waiting for some reviews before going to digital (wet).

PS: The new look is great , very clean and efficient. Congratulations it's a lot of work (I know) and forgive my bad English!

  2. Here's a picture of the housing from their site:

I like the way it has a built in Ball mount on top of the housing!!! Dave, you gotta get your hands on one of these for a review!

  3. Acording to Ikelite, there new housing for the CP5000 will ship in late February - strobes can be hardwired directly to the

housing. You can attach the INON and Sea & Sea (part #58070) wide angle adaptors.

  4. Isn't the internet great!

I have an Ikelite housing for my coolpix 990 and it also has the TTL cable bulkhead. Very easy to use and believe it or not, the TTL works really well.

Pix from my Belize Trip last week coming soon to prove it...;)

    Cheers

  5. Hmm...looking at the pictures of the Hugyfot housing, it appears to me that the camera's photocell is completely blocked by the housing. How is the camera going to get exposure information??? The photocell is just above the grip on the camera and just below the shutter button.

I can tell you for a fact from my Ike experience...if you block that photocell, you won't get a good exposure....

    Just thought this was odd...

  6. If you look at the button placement of the Hugyfot housing it is clear that this is not a housing for the Coolpix 5000. Clearly a picture of some other housing.

  7. That is absolutely right. It could be a housing for any one of the cameras listed on their site:

    CAMEDIA C700

    CAMEDIA 2040

    CAMEDIA 3040

    CAMEDIA 4040

    COOLPIX 775 / 880

    COOLPIX 5000

    CANON G1

    CANON G2

    SONY S-85

    MINOLTA S-304

    SONY DSC F707

Anyone want to hazard a guess? :-)

    Cheers

  8. Talked with Ike on Thursday. They said that their 5000 housing will work with the Inon and Sea and Sea wide angle add on lenses. It will also have an optional dome port that will allow the use of the EC68 wide angle lens!. It will use the hot shoe and fits in Ikelites small housing, the one the Oly 4040 ahd G2 fit in. They said to expect it in mid March.
