i just bought a new olympus omd em5 mark II for my girlfriend (i have the same one since 2018 with olympus pt ep13 housing)
the question is now the olympus housing is not in the market. i dont know if i should buy the ikelite or the nauticam. the prices are high.
Is possible to buy a pt-ep13 olympus housing second hand for a cheap price, but is coming with the standar port. If i buy that one for 600 US and i buy a new port (wide angle or macro) is about 400 US more.
and the last is i still have time for cancel the buy and upgrade it for the olympus omd em5 mark III. its a newest model and have more housing options.
thanks.
Have you considered this other option? Olympus EPL9 or EPL10 camera (second hand) with Backscatter E-PL10 Octo Housing
- Cheaper, Small and compact
- Housing Includes 67mm Threaded Port AOI FLP-06 ( for the Olympus 14-42mm EZ lens )
- Integrated Vacuum Detection, Moisture Alarm, & LED Flash Trigger included
You only need dedicated ports for wide angle and macro or you can use the flat port with wet lenses.
Housings as a rule do not include ports. The prices you list are housing only.
The Nauticam housing is very nice, I used to use one. If you want to use strobes, there' does not appear to room for the accesory strobe that comes with the camera which is a perfectly good way of triggering them. Ikelite assume cable sync rather than optic fibre by default. Read the fine print in the port charts for ikelite, looks like you can zoom with all lenses but only with certain port options and they only offer 6" domes for many of the wides which won't have fantastic corners.
thanks! i think i will buy the original olympus housing second hand. is her first underwater camera. is easy to buy all the accessories and cheap also.
