Does a Fantasea housing to Aquatica Dome adaptor exist?

2 posts
  1. Hi,

My partner has a Fantasea Line FA6500 housing and she wants to buy a dome port for split shots. A friend makes custom 12 inch domes but she doesn't want to get locked into Fantasea long term. I have an Aquatica setup so she'll probably move in that direction at some point and hence is looking to future-proof the purchase.

Does anyone know if there is some way to attach an Aquatica port to a Fantasea housing? I do know that Fantasea has an adaptor for Sea&Sea ports but haven't seen a converter for Aquatica.

    Cheers,

    Duncan

  2. It seems unlikely - you could use a S&S port now and then purchase an Aquatica to S&S port adapter later:  https://www.backscatter.com/Aquatica-Port-Adapter-for-Sea-and-Sea-NX-ports to use that S&S port on an Aquatica system.  You can also convert S&S ports for use on Nauticam:  https://www.backscatter.com/Nauticam-N120-Adapter-for-Sea-and-Sea-Ports-with-s

It seems the NX and DX S&S ports use the same 3 lug system but you would need to confirm that as the Fantasea adapts to S&S NX ports from their port charts.

You would want to plan out what lenses you might want to use later on the adapters in some cases add extension so you would need to be able to use  an extension shorter than what is on the port chart by the amount of extension included on the adapter.  So it would prevent using lens port combinations that needed to extension.

Nauticam has the advantage it seems that you only need to changes the lugs on the back of the dome to swap between S&S and Nauticam housings.
