Shooting with a TG6 without strobes

  1. Does anyone have info on settings or techniques for shooting without a strobe with the TG-6? There seems to be an abundance of information on shooting with strobes or using a Magic Filter.

  2. Not much to it, you want as much light as you can get so shoot in Av at f2.8(6.3) {wide(tele)}  and ISO100-200 depending on what sort of shutter speed you get.  If you need more shutter speed try out f2(4.9) and/or a little more ISO.  Probably set WB to UW, it seems to do a half decent job and shoot in RAW.  The UW WB is technically not important if shooting in Raw but many raw conversions programs will use that as a starting point, so the images will look a lot better when you first open them and less challenging to getting them look right.

The TG cameras will produce results doing this and if the water is clear and you are not deep they can look fairly good, just be aware the images fall apart fairly quickly as you start to run out of light and start boosting ISO.    If you are shooting macro, using a decent torch/video light can make a big difference.
