I'm wondering if anyone here could provide me with direction for an inexpensive entry into fluorescent photography. I recently moved and I found a Kraken Hydra 5000 WSR+, it does have a blue/UV setting, will this work?
I am thinking I will use this light on one side and my Backscatter MF1 on the other side of my Olympus EPL10 with the 14-42 EZ lens so that I can use a flat port and a screw on yellow filter. Any thoughts on why this setup should not work?
Only thing to consider is burping the yellow filter which might be a bit fiddly with gloves on if you are screwing it on and off

Good point but lately my water temps have been about 55°F (about 12°C) so I havent been wearing gloves when photographing.
With a pair of Archon D36V lights in blue/UV mode, I found the total light output to be insufficient for photography. Even wide-open, at fairly high ISO, necessary exposure times were simply too long. The lights are okay for seeing the fluorescence (and even then, while my 10-18mm and 16-50mm lenses focused fairly quickly, 90mm macro struggled), but for actual photography, dichroic filters in front of strobes are a much better solution. You might be able to find a used one and jury-rig it to your MF-1.
