    Hi all,

have anyone got this housing yet.

    Any photos, reviews/comments anywhere?

    Does anyone stock it?

    Regards

  3. Ryan at Underwater Camera Pros is also an Aquatica dealer and a Wetpixel sponsor as well.

As Ryan caries all of the major housing brands, he is an excellent source of unbiased information. I also cannot think of anyone that works harder for the customer, and to make them happy.

  4. Hello Anders,

I've got the housing, and I'm happy with it. It's quite compact and has been made very pro and at a nice price. It has acrylic ports, but they are really good. The ports are easy to mount on the housing and the gears work really accurately. It's cheaper than any other aluminium housing.

Mike Veitch has made a review of the housing. I agree with his words.

  5. Got the Aquatica A70 housing about three weeks ago.

Got it into the water a week ago for a short dive.

It is my first digital underwater system. I also use an Aquatica housed N90.

    First impressions:

Althought the lack of TTL worried me, being able to review my shots underwater and even show them to my buddy more then compensated for having to shoot everything in manual.

I miss being able to switch from auto focus to manual focus. When the visibility is bad the camera does not always want to focus on the same thing as I do :? You have to choose in which mode you will shoot before entering the water.

The housing is almost of identical size as my previous housing and controls are where I expect them to be. I did not have to re-learn to use a new housing... just have to practise more with shooting in manual mode.

As others have said, the housing is compact and all my previous accesories, flashes, etc, fit on the new one.

I'm happy. I'm still waiting for a couple of accesories for my 12-24 zoom but first impressions are good.

  6. I got mine a few weeks back from Tom Stack (he even put a quote of mine on his page). Tom was great, I went to him after the place I usually do business with rather left me in the lurch. I know it was around DEMA but they still did not return calls, didn't get me a quote.....

I have shot the nikonos for years so this is my first housing. I will be taking it in the water in a week or so, but it seems absolutely wonderful.

My film SLR was a minolta XK (circa mid 70's), so to me the D70 is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It is the greatest thing since sliced bread!

Have fun and give Tom a call.

  7. I'm in England and even over here I have heard many good things about Ryan in the States!

That said, if you are based in Europe, you are a long way from your dealer should something go wrong a week before your trip!

    Alex

  8. Alex, if you are based in the UK, Cameras Underwater http://www.camerasunderwater.co.uk/ sell and gives service to Aquatica.

They have as well a couple of service shops in the rest of Europe.

    Michel

  9. Thanks, Michel.
