Cozumel D70 Gallery is up!

  1. Cozumel D70 Gallery is up!

Kimberly and I got to spend last week in Cozumel and got in 18 dives. We had forgotten the challenges of getting good pictures with the steady current, but we managed to get a few every dive. We stayed in town and walked to our dive shop and then to the pier everyday. We only had to take 2 taxi rides all week....to and from the airport.

Once again, our D70/Ikelite rigs were easy to handle and worked great. I'm a little dissappointed with my WA efforts, but we found plenty of macro critters to make up for it.

  2. Hi Karl,

Great stuff, I can see you're happy with the macro. Especially liked the yellow blennie.

Looks like the W/A stuff is going to drop off for me as well. At least until I can get my fill of using the 105mm. So much more satisfying to get the images that were difficult or impossible with the 5050. Plus, no more wetmate W/A lens change when the Manta swims by.

  3. Awesome shots, both of you!

Using the 10.5 in the Cenotes was a great idea! It is so hard to light anything in there, and the closer position used with the 10.5 sure did give you bright shots!

  4. Hey Karl and Kimberly -

Great gallery! Love that nudibranch..never seen that before in Cozumel. Yellow blenny photo and French Angel are my favorites. Does it look like the 10.5 is sharper than the 12-24 WA?

  5. Hi Karl and Kimberly,

Wow, very nice. I especially like the anemone shrimp - never seen that one before. Good find!

    Cheers

  6. Stunning shots....l

  7. Thanks for the positive responses.....it's always fun to hear peoples reactions to something that you enjoy so much

Rand....I've always enjoyed WA, but I'm getting sucked in to macro....I'm starting to learn how to find the little stuff, so it's getting much more fun

James...Kimberly has younger eyes than I do :) That really is a pretty shrimp

Rick...you are right about the 10.5mm...you have to be close to light it properly....perfect for the dark cenotes....still hard to get it to focus some times

Mike...that nudibranch is less than 1/2" long....our dive guide found 3 of them on different dives....hard to shoot without blowing out the sand....the 10.5 seems sharper to me too, but not nearly as versatile as the 12-24

  8. Carl, Kimberly,

You showed me things I've missed in Cozumel. Stunning shots. excellent eye, I do need to slow down! Thanks for sharing the images it gives me great incentive to try harder!
