50mm macro lens for Sony

The 50mm macro is one of the older Sony FE lenses so it is a bit slower than the more modern lenses.Which camera body you use it with will determine how fast the lens focuses. It is however sharp and will focus to 1:1 near the port glass. Subject selection is key for this lens. If you want to shoot mostly in the 1:4 to 1:1 range the 90 will be the better choice.
For larger subjects you can reduce distance and get greater DOF V. the 90mm

Yes, the minimum working distance is a potential issue. At 1:1 working distance from front element is 70mm, you will lose about 10mm of that from the port rim and port glass plus whatever distance from front of the lens to the port glass. So you'll have about 55-60mm of distance from the edge of the port to your subject which is a little tight and getting difficult to light. Also macro diopters won't work as they function my reducing minimum focal distance and you don't have much to play with to start with.
