i photographed this cute little guy on the weekend , at the end of an awsome dive at Jervis bay Australia.
in the past i have found them difficult to shoot as the auto focus on my camera has trouble picking thier sticky bodies up

Most shallow water sea spiders I have seen tend to be much more squat and closer to the rocks. This one is standing up mucg more - which is probably why your AF locked on more easily than normal.
The images are in focus and the exposure is fine, but your strobe aiming could do with some work - as it is behind the sea spider in all the picture. Also given the fact that this guy is standing up so much, this was a good oppurtunity to get the camera even lower - to get even better separation of the subject and the background. This all sounds a bit negative - but really the shots are fine - I'm just trying to be constructive.
I don't know how common sea spiders are in Jervis Bay - but I don't know anywhere where they are abundant so good stats on spotting him in the first place.

this guy was actually walking about ,and when i stoped to shoot him i was able to get in his path. i agree that getting lower would have been good for more seperation .
im finding the strobe issue a challange(just got mine a few months ago) , i can see your point about positioning the strobe.
thanks for the comments.
its hard to say how common sea spiders are in JB but u can usually find one if you keep an eye out on a dive.
