Looking for a good setup

I am a experienced(not that experienced but not beginner) uw photographer. Im looking for advice on a new setup up (digital) that is 5mp or higher. Also with the ability to do a full range techniques( macro ect.) also that it has the potential to have dual strobes.

Some questions to to help you start looking and help us steer you:

1) Do you want to have a point-and-shoot or an SLR?

2) Do you want to start out with macro or wide angle?

3) Do you have a budget in mind? A max $ amount that you wdo not want to exceed?

under $3000 and a wide angle. Id love a SLR but i think that might be a little to pricy for my range
