Can I use a Sony A7IV in A7RIV Nauticam NA-A2020

  1. I was wondering if anyone knows about using the Sony A7IV in A7RIV Nauticam NA-A2020.  I have already bought the housing but want to get the A7IV camera instead of the A7RIV as originally planned.  I know the dimensions on the A7IV are slightly larger.  See below info that I read.  Thanks in advance!

    Dimensions and design

    • Sony A7 IV: 131.3 x 96.4 x 79.8mm, 658g with battery and memory card
    • Sony A7R IV: 128.9 x 96.4 x 77.5mm, 665g with battery and memory card

Although they are very similar in size, weight and design, the Sony A7 IV is a little bigger than the A7R IV because of its heat-dissipating construction.

  2. The thickness of the camera will be critical, particularly dimension from tripod mounting socket where you attach the camera to the vertical  plane of the rear buttons, even a small change there will mean the buttons will be pressed when you close the housing back and your dimensions show the camera is 2.3mm thicker.  You would have to try but you would think if it fitted the earlier housing, then Nauticam would not produce a different housing for it.

  3. i agree, i think it is unlikely to work.  Even if the relationship between the tripod screw and lens axis is preserved, there must be 2mm changes in the positions of at least some of the buttons.

  4. Thanks for the info.  There is already a Nauticam housing on the market for the A7iv.  That is why I am not sure if I can use my case for it.  I am hoping someone will know!

  5. I don't think it will work. All camera bodies sit tight in their cases an even 1mm or so will decide whether a knob can't be pressed or button is permanently pressed in and therefore makes the camera inoperable

Aquatica also has a case for the A7 IV
