  1. Advice Needed: Sony HC1000 or Panasonic GS400

Hi folks, like to check which Camcorder is good? Im looking at HC1000 or GS400, both 3CCD, just that one of them is 1mega pix and the other is 4mega pix. For underwater housing i know for sure HC1000 is available, but aint too sure about GS400.

And also, what does lux mean to a video camera, i mean of affecting the quality of the video etc

So guys, need your professional opinion here. Thanks in advance.

  2. The megapixel ratings are for still pictures online. Sony is the better choice for camera housing choices due to lanc function. The Pana may have a housing from 10Bar or Sealux. Picturewise, the Pana has the nicer saturation and sharpness, while the sony has the signature higher contrast. Highlights aren't as blown out by the Pana CCDs and the skintones are better imho.

Lux is the equivalent of the light of 1 candle at 1 foot. However each manufacturer interprets minimum lux different sometimes.

  3. thanks. does that mean that higher lux is better?

  4. Hello,

What is a "... lanc function..." who described for the SONY 1000 ?

Does the Panasonic GS-400 (I bought one) allow electronic control or only mechnical control ?

    Regards

    Pascal
