This is Nikon's original 14mm lens. I used it for over/under shots when I didn't want fisheye curves. Several of these 14mm over/under shots can be see on my website fredbavendam.com. I first used the Sigma 14mm f3.5, but that lens exhibited a lot of flare. Then Nikon introduced their own 14mm. I tried it. I liked it. I bought it. The lens has a long manual focus "throw" and the lens also has "traditional" depth of field markings which allow you to see what distance range will have acceptable sharpness at a particular aperture setting. Newer lenses rarely have this and for zoom lenses it is not possible. The lens is considerably smaller, lighter and less expensive than the current Nikon 14-24mm zoom. The silver lines on the manual focus ring were silver tape which I used to pre-set manual focus points which helped with over/under shots. The tape has since been removed.
The B&H used gear department has four of these lenses at prices ranging from $800 to $950. I will sell mine for $650. Offers or questions please write to me at fbavendam@hotmail.com.
