Inon S2000 not working with Nauticam Trigger

  1. I was using Inon S2000 flash  with Sony RX100-7 on manual mode perfectly. The Housing was a Fantasy Housing. Recently upgraded to Sony A7-4 Nauticam Housing, the Flash doesn't work on Manual Mode and doesn't have the same out put power. The fiberoptic cable is the same as my previous setup.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

  2. Did you insert the magnet in order to disable the advanced pre-flash circuit? The RX100 always emits a pre-flash, which the strobe needs to ignore when operating in manual mode, whereas the A7 IV with Nauticam trigger only emits a single pulse, and thus the strobe needs to fire on the first signal that it gets.

Regardless, an S-2000 (single? dual?) is somewhat too weak to use with a full-frame camera unless you're shooting macro all the time; if you want to shoot wide-angle with yout A7 IV you will likely need to look into getting something like a pair of Z-330s or similar.

  3. What are you triggering with?  As Barmagalot says you need to be in the right mode.  An INON strobe will not sync with a single manual trigger flash with the strobe in manual unless the magnet is in.  We are assuming the S-2000 is firing but not syncing so not appearing in the photo.

The S-2000 is a little low powered, but would work in macro or maybe with a WWL where you open up to f5.6-8 range - it would sort of work, but you will likely find your self wishing for more power.

When you say it doesn't have the same output power are you referring to operation in TTL?  It's likely the pre-flash is eating into the stored energy so you can't get full power in the main flash.  What sort of apertures are you shooting at (both RX-100 and the A7IV)

  4. Hi

Now it works when magnetic insert .

I am using 2 x S2000 and as @ChrisRoss says its power is not enough for wide angle shot but at the moment I will manage with it.

    Thank you very much.
