Nauticam flash trigger 2 CR2450 battery life - Not 10000 shots

  1. I have this trigger to this trip I had taken around 3000 shots. During the trip one of the strobes stopped firing. After troubleshooting it was the status of the trigger batteries

I believe the suggested 10000 shots autonomy is a wild exaggeration but would like to hear from others

  2. Hi Massimo,

I did not count the number of photos (I even did not know they are supposed to last for 10.000 flashes). I have the Nauticam flash trigger for Oly EM1-II and have to replace the CR2450 batteries approx. every 1-2 years. This September I had to exchange the CR2450s of the flash trigger, but when I assembled the rig and switched the trigger on, the LED was red - so no problem with flash failure during diving...

Our housings and our TCs use the same CR2450 batteries (my wife and me). We normally build our rigs together in the evening and leave vaccum check and flash trigger on until we use the rigs on the next day. The housings have one CR2450 and they need to be exchanged at a similar time span, maybe a little more often. It can also be, that the batteries are not fresh, when one buys them, and then they will last less. There are several brands and likely they have different lifetimes (for the TCs, where the exchange is not easy, I take Duracell or VARTA ; the cheapest noname brand (available in blisters of five) I take for housings and flash trigger) ..

Therefore I always have at least six CR2450 with me on a trip, so it is no issue in case one or several fail (so far always the LED on flash trigger and housings went red upon assembly of the rig, never so far a failure during diving)...
