Required optical cable and/or adaptor for Inon Strobe to Seafrogs housing
4 posts
Hi,
I was hoping to find out what kind of optical cable I will need to connect an Inon strobe (e.g., d200) to my seafrogs housing. Do I also need to purchase some kind of adaptor to make it work?
My camera is an Sony a6000 if that is relevant
Thanks,

You need Sea & Sea L-type on the housing end and whatever it is that the strobe accepts on the strobe end. If you use Sea & Sea strobes, it will most likely be another Sea & Sea type, whereas Inon strobes use Inon D-type. The L-type connectors push in, whereas the D-type ones screw on. Retra strobes use D-type connectors and come with an adapter cap that allows attaching L-type cables. Here you can see samples of each cable:

the INON strobe cables come fitted with this - the advantage is that it is field serviceable, so if you break a cable you can refit a connector. They also sell S&S type L connector which are also field servicable. If you break one you can trim the cable and re-attach the connector.
