Can a video light help in split shots ?

  1. Hi all

There is a challenge in split shots with the bright sun light in the "upper" part of the frame compared to the underwater light.

Even though it isn't as bad as the focus issues, I was wondering if a video light (or strobe) attached to the base of the camera housing  can help.

Do you have any thoughts on this?

Are you thinking about the DR difference? In terms of focus you are in manual and in terms of exposure you meter on the land part and use the strobes to fill the gap

  3. Thanks.

  4. The brightness difference can be quite significant and video lights  will probably struggle to provide enough power.  A strobe is significantly more powerful than even the brightest video light and is a better choice.
