  1. Using Sea and Sea 0.56X WAL with C5050Z

Has anyone use the Sea and Sea WAL 0.56X with 67mm thread with the C5050Z? I am considering of buying it. Any vignetting? How does it compare to the Inon WAL UWL-100

    Thanks for any feedback

  2. Sea and Sea o.56X lens use underwater

    Fongwee,

Not sure what housing you're using the C5050 in (????)

Check out the link "What's New" at www.ikelite.com for my recent photos using a Canon G6 in an Ikelite housing. I used the Sea and Sea 0.56X lens for the wide shots. It does vignette ever so slightly at full wide angle. You can see slight dark corners on the LCD and zoom in a bit to eliminate it or crop your photo in the computer afterward...I think the INON may do the same but will ask a friend that has used the C5050 in an Ikelite housing with both the Sea and Sea and INON 100 degree lens.

All in all it was very sharp on the Canon G6 and a little more compact than the INON. I even left it on (since it threads on OUTSIDE the Ikelite housing port) and zoomed through the camera's range.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Thanks

    Hi David,

Am using it PT-015. How does it compare with the ikelite housing? Please let me know the reply.

    Thanks

  4. Ikelite versus PT housing for Olympus C5050

    Dear Kim,

The Ikelite housing for the Olympus C5050 and 5060 has a little more room around the camera and true TTL with Ikelite's coiled cord to Ikelite, Sea and Sea and Nikonos SB strobes. Just need to get the correct style cord.

The housing is a little more expensive but is depth rated deeper and in my opinion a little more robust in terms of controls, too.

    Check it out at www.ikelite.com

  5. The Ikelite housings for C5050 and C5060 provide real Olympus TTL with Ikelite DS-50 and DS-125 SubStrobes with the proper sync cord. Non Ikelite strobes like Sea & Sea, Inon and Nikonos may be connected with a special sync cord, but operate only as manual strobes, not TTL.

All the wide angle shots in this gallery, about one-half of the photos in the gallery, were taken with the Sea & Sea WAL on an Olympus housing with a 4040. I haven't used the INON.

  7. I've used the Inon wide lens with c5050 before, no vignetting so far, but beware of the barrel distortion! BTW, there is a add-on dome port for the Inon wide lens, seem to be a better choice than the S&S.

  8. Thanks for the info on the ikelite housing. Actually I was wondering whether the pics taken on an ikelite housing vs the PT-015 with the WAL is any different. I would suppose they are the same unless the port used by the 2 companies differ by a lot in quality.

Other than the dome port, how does the quality differs? Personally I feel that the dome port is too expensive.

  9. The distortion you'll get from the INON with the add on dome port can be removed with freeware such as Pano Tools, http://www.path.unimelb.edu.au/~dersch/. But, the added size of the INON with the dome port might be a consideration. It might not be as easy to put in you BCD pocket as the Sea & Sea lens is.
