Crab with jewels

  1. Is this a crab?  It is showing off its jewels, reminds one of the Beattles' song:
    "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"

  2. Hi Kraken,

    The animal belongs certainly to the spider crabs, I suspect it is Achaeus spinosus (or a related species). Note that the "pearls", as you call them, are not constituents of the spider crab itself, but represent epibiontic polyps - therefore the appearance of this species may vary, depending on its "vegetation"...
