Tsunami's effects on Sipadan

  1. Tsunami's effects on Sipadan

Are any of you out there in the know on the status of Sipadan, Mabul island, and the likes following the terrible disaster this weekend?

The media makes it look and sound like everything has been affected. If you have info, share it!

    Thanks,

    Mike

  2. I wouldn't think Sipadan would be affected by the Tsunamis. Borneo is in the Celebes sea and would have been protected by peninsular Malaysia and Indonesia. Sipadan, Kapalai, and Mabul also lie off the northeastern coast of Borneo and would in themselves be protected by Borneo.

  3. Looks like Lembeh is okay too. Don't know if the route there is affected if you go through Malaysia on Malaysia Airlines.

I am scheduled to go through this route in July. I will follow up in a few days when I call my travel agent.
