  1. Sealions w/ Kodak ProSLRn

    Hi,

I went to the Coronado Islands, South of San Diego over the break. There is a spot called "Lobster Shack" where the baby sealions literally leap off the rocks to come out and play when they see the diveboat coming. It was cold and my dive buddy was in a wetsuit, so I only made a 30min dive, but here are some of my favorites:

There are also quite a few garibaldi at this spot. What looks like kelp is actually some 3 or 4 foot long sargassum looking macroalgae. Looks like I'm in the kelp beds? Pretty neat trick eh?

Anyhow, thought I'd share. These are 14 megapixel images, so I can't wait to get some prints made of a few. The 17-35 on the Kodak is a kick butt combination.

    Cheers

  2. Very nice shots, especially the first one.

In the second frame there is a lot of noise, alto in the therd there is a lot of artifacts that looks from the resizing.

  3. Hi Alto,

Thanks. These shots were taken in a location where there is a lot of "gunk" in the water, so it may not be noise that you are seeing. I appreciate what you're saying though - it's there. There are also plenty of jpeg artifacts as they don't deal well with this kind of blotchiness.

I'm glad you like the first one - it's my favorite too.

    Cheers

    James

  4. The first one is great. I really like the composition. I prefer these to the macros. Alex

  5. i want to play with sea lions !!

  6. If you do a trip to the Coronados during the winter months, I can guarentee Sea Lions Giles. So come on over!

Alex: Thanks for the comments - that's my favorite one too. I'm glad you like them.

    Cheers
