    Hi fellas ..

A freind of mine has asked me to look for the best set of dual strobes for his brand new Olympus c-8080 and pt-23 housing. However, all i got after hours of searching and reading was a major headache. So could you guys PLEEEASE help me out here. I dont know what to tell the guy.

    Hi there,

Your friend has a little problem with the PT-23 because they can't use strobes in "true" Olympus TTL mode. This is possible only with the Ikelite housing for the 8080.

Instead of true TTL, you can only use a system where the strobe "watching" the camera strobe. Unfortunately this isn't ideal because it uses up the camera battery and may not be as accurate. However, many people have been happy with the performance of the Inon D2000 which uses this system. A link describing the system can be found here http://www.digitaldiver.net/news.php?story=86

However, you may also want to take a look at this thread http://www.wetpixel.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic...-matthias.phtml which indicates that all may not be perfect. The same thread also highlights the Matthias adaptor which can be found here http://www.muenster.de/~matthias/blitz/oly2nikone.htm which seems to allow the use of just about any strobe with the housing.

I don't know about the Sea and Sea strobes, but I think they will only work in manual with this camera (somebody will hopefully be able to chime in here). I know you could also use the Ike strobes in manual with the manual adaptor if you preferred this route.

    Hope this helps.
