Nikon D200

Picture and advert fake. But the specs certainly contain what a lot of people hope for the D200:
8-10 MP
CAM1300
Improved high ISO noise
2000 USD price
Nikon may announce something at PMA? Or may wait a few months so as not to steal the D2X thunder. But I would be surprised if someting like this is not available before the end of the year.
I have no inside information. I'm just guessing!

I'd add, from what James has told me, that the one thing that this camera might not get is the CAM1300. Just a feeling.

I just hope it doesn't get the CAM900 either, that's the only reason I didn't buy the D70, I think it's too slow. I agree it's a fake, "the LEDGEND continues"? But the body is a very nice photoshop work.

Thom Hogan says CAM900, too... James is such a trendsetter

Before we all convince ourselves by circulating the same rumour... James got his info from Thom H and that is what I was repeating above! Although Thom's arguments do make sense.

Yes, Thom reports that Nikon now has factories making the D70 (Cam900) and the D2h/x (Cam2000) Now that the F6 has replaced the F100, there is no more Cam1300 production equipment being used.
I'd be happy to be proven wrong on this one though if it means we get cam1300 instead of 900...
Cheers

One of the things that many people moan about in the d100/70 cameras, myself included, is the CAM900 AF module. I would be very surprised to see a d100 successor with CAM900, as this would work against some of the other expected/wished for specs (like 5 or so FPS).
Perhaps they have a CAM1500 in the offing? I'm hoping PMA will reveal all (or, more likely, the week before PMA).
-
Ooo. I hadn't thought of that. A whole new CAM1500. 7 AF sensors and 1300 speed. Yes! Just the ticket. Alex

Where does he say that it will be CAM900? In the link below he says CAM1300 and calls it D80 instead of D200.
-
My guess is that the D80 will use a scaled down version of the CAM2000 with fewer cross type sensors and possibly fewer sensors overall (say 7 or 9 instead of 11). I wouldn't be surprised to see it called the CAM1500 as Alex predicted above. I think this is one area where the new D200/D80 is most likely to attempt to best the D70 (other than rez).
