Seacam D2h/x Housing at BOOT

  1. Ooo, That does look very nice indeed. The finish/quality makes it look like a piece of art!

Now it seems clear now that Nikon are using the exact same body for the D2X we can be confident that it should just slot straight it. It looks a nice snug fit too - like the 1D housing. That is one of my few criticisms of Seacam's housings for smaller DSLRs (e.g. D70, D100) that the housings are much bigger than they need to be/other brands.

Good news for N. American viewers is that going on banter I had in Antibes most of this first batch is heading your way!

  2. i agree the design is very sexy .. and i'd pay for sexy ... but i dont have that sort of money !

  3. pretty, but it will be prettier still ...

This one is still a prototype, as you can see from lack of O-ring groove. But it does show the general design and ergonomics, which are clearly quite lovely. The finish on production housings will be normal "Seacam Silver". Final tweaks will happen when Harald Hordosch gets a D2X in his hands. As they say in the islands ... "Soon Come"!

  4. I see...the handles look improved. My complaint with the handles is that they are smooth/slippery and it's hard to apply leverage underwater. I'd like something thicker and meatier.

The bouyancy of the Canon 1D* rig is pretty good ignoring the heavy finders. I'd expect this one to be good as well.

  5. I'll take one.

  6. Which port is that?

  7. Which port is that?

    Looks like the "Wide Port"

  8. Probably the fisheye rather than the 9".

    Q. Whats the difference between the "wide port" and "Superdome/Fisheye" ports?

    A. The Superdome and Fisheye are big enough to rinse your gear in after a dive.

Sorry I couldn't resist, I am tyring to pack my gear tonight for a trip and my Fisheye port is too big to fit in my carry on with the rest of my photo gear. I'm going to make my 5 year old son wear it as a hat for the plane ride.
