I've decided to get the 20D and the Ike housing, with a 50mm for basic macro use. To keep it simple I would like to use just one other lens for a wider perspective. The 17-85 I think would be more versatile for land use in my case. But I'm not sure if 17mm is wide enough for the typical reef scenes.
1. Do those of you that have them find one lens sharper than the other, or either one particularly strong or deficient in sharpness?
2. Is there a particular focal length that you find yourself using most of the time with these WA zooms?
3. Any problems with either in the Ike housing?
Thanks for your advice!!
Larry
Hi Larry,
On the Nikon side, I used the 12-24 and I later had the 17-35. The 17-85 Canon will be a GREAT topside lens, but not wide enough for dramatic reef scenes underwater. If you're just talking underwater use - I'd get the 10-22. Perhaps Herb will chime in - he has that lens already.
Cheers
James
Larry,
try to use the Sigma or Canon 15mm Fisheye, it will give you the same wide scenes that a 18mm lens in a 35mm body without Fisheye effect.
