Online Chat - Thursday 9-12-02

Let's get together for an online UW digital photography chat. If you have any questions or experiences to share - or just feel like coming by to "listen" you are all welcome!

To connect to the chatroom click on:

Accept the digital certificate when prompted, enter your username, and click connect.

The software connects to the Xnet server network on port 6667 - so make sure your firewall will let you through. If you have any troubles, just drop me an email.

I can't seem to successfully log in to the chat. How is it done?

He referred to one sweet harmless old man as a "problem child" and made his Chat room "Ikeproof."

I use Internet Explorer 6.0 w/ my PC. The chatroom is hosted on an IRC server so you can use MIRC or a similar program to connect if you can't connect thru the webpage.

I go to the webpage, accept the certificate, then enter my nickname and click connect.

It sometimes takes a few seconds to make a connection (sometimes as much as 30) but that's the only problem I've seen.

I'm not sure how it works w/ MAC. One "older fella" cannot get connected either using NS or IE. But he's the only person I've talked to that had a problem and I can't isolate it.
