Was looking on ebay at the canon eos 20d. And there are alot of camera being sold saying they will be shipped from hong kong.
Are these camera's as good as the ones you can buy in ur own country from canon dealers.
May sound a silly question but I'm not sure.
Where are you located? If you live in the USA, the only diff between a grey and USA market camera is that NikonUSA will not accept it for servicing or offer any warranty on the unit. I think you can still take it to a Nikon authorized service center though...
Cheers

I live in the uk. Its only because I have heard horror stories about cameras not been assembled completly.
or lenses not working as well as one bought from a proper dealer
But I am not sure of the truth behind these comments so thought I would ask some more people.
SO you think the only difference would be that there would be no Canon UK warranty.
All the cameras are assembled in the same factory. The grey vs import only has to do w/ the downstream supply chain.
The original question was about 20d's. AFAIK Canon is a lot less stringent than Nikon with respect to "international" warranty coverage. I'd still be a little leery though, unless the seller was a reasonably big name in terms of camera sales on eBay (Cameta, Helix, Alkit etc etc).

Not exactly pointed at djp's question, but all I've ever owned were grey market Nikons. I've had zero issues with warranty (once) and lots of repairs through NPS; and it's tough to get any more NikonUSA than them.
All the best, James
Ok
Thanks very much for your input and advice everyone.

I also have bought several grey market items in the past. All were execellent purchases with no problems. The only issue I ever faces was once the manual that I received was not in english. The dealer (Helix) replaced it with am english version.
