1-Ds, Subal CD1, Z220s

I recently tried a Canon 1-Ds in a Subal Cd-1 housing, with 3-pin connectors and two Inon Z220s strobes on Manual.

With the camera set on Manual mode, no problems.

With the camera set on Tv or Av modes, the camera locked into f22 and would not fire or function.

I switched camera bodies, same thing.

The Inon Z220s strobes were set to manual at all times.

Anyone have any idea why this might be?
