James, I can't log on to your images. I usually shoot my wide angel (35mm) with the Nikon 17-35. Do you find your wide angle shots restricted due to the 1.5x focal length multiplier?. I have a 14 mm lens but I much prefer the versatility of the 17-35 UW.
Hi David,
That link is probably messed up. Just go to my homepage to view the galleries. It's:
www.reefpix.org
The 14mm lens becomes a 21mm on a DSLR. It's a good field of view for underwater.
I thought about using the Sigma 15-30 zoom that I have but it's a huge monster lens requiring a custom port and extension ring. Isn't the 17-35 big too? Wow, that is pro glass though....$$$$

James saw your images. Nice. One question. Some of the shots that are wide angle with a foreground subject, the fore subject seems somewhat over exposed in the way that you see when you try to use TTL for close n wide photos. Did you use TTL?
I read where there may be introduced an optical device to restore the full angle of coverage with a digital SLR. Essentially a reverse Teleconverter. Supposedly you don't loose an F stop as you are making the lens wider.
Hi Dave,
Yes, I shot all TTL. That was my "test shoot" for this setup so I wanted to see what it can do.
There are a couple shots that I posted where there is a small subject in the foreground that is overexposed. The scrawled cowfish is an example. You can use the camera to adjust the strobe power down 1 or 2 stops to do foreground fill flash - or shoot the strobe in manual.
Cheers
