  1. I had a look through the Lembeh ones. And have picked out a few I liked.

I like the composition and number of fish in this shot. Pity about the backscatter.

I think this portrait is strong and full of impact.

I really like your use of the long exposure here to get the blue background. It really works to show both te camouflage of the OGPF, but at the same time by silhouetting the fish against blue water it allows the viewer to see it.

This is another great portrait. Although for composition I would have liked to see the froggy further to the right of the frame. You could always crop a bit of the right and top. Great colours.

This shot would have been perfect if you had got the all the tail in. I love the contrast of the bright fish with the bland stargazer.

And finally I am not sure I know what this is. It looks like a true stonefish from the large pectoral fins. I guess taken at night because of the large pupil. But he has some great algae growth on him.

Just thought I'd share a few of your pictures! I enjoyed looking at them.

  2. Alex, you can't hotlink to pbase they block it :)

  3. Sorry.

So the above is a bit pointless then. Read my comments and try and guess which images I was talking about...

  4. instead of Img you can use URL and then you will have a link to the photo.

  5. I appreciate the comments. The stargazer was a total grab shot. It happened so fast, & with the 5050 shutter lag........ Hopefully my D70 will help improve composition & no more lag :)

  6. I definitely think that less is more. You have some excellent shots but you also have many mediocre ones on your webpages. I'm more persistent than most and I'm willing to wade through many pages to get to the gems. I don't know why people are compelled to post every picture they take.

Sorry, I don't mean to be so critical of you in particular as many others are guilty of the very same thing. You have some very good work. I just would like to see a tighter edit.

  8. Love the hairy frogfish!

We're heading to Manado and Lembeh in May...any recommendations on dive sites?

    Kathy

  9. As far as I know the resorts in Lembeh generally dive the same sites. I stayed at KBR. A couple of the best sites were TK 1. TK2, Hairball, Nudi Falls. I dove a couple of days in Manado before KBR, mostly at Bunakan. Since I was in muck diving mode I enjoyed the house reefs & Popoh (west of Tasik Ria).

  10. Alex - your links worked for me to view the pics. They just didn't come up in the actually gallery page.

  11. Thanks Sean for sorting that out!

I would second Larry's opinion that there are far to many web galleries which need editting down. Of course people can upload all their shots for showing friends/dive buddies. But I think having "best of" galleries is better for the casual visitor.
