Had a front come rolling through tonight with the associated electrical activity. I shot some 30 and 15 second exposures with the Mark II just for fun before the rain started:
Interesting white balance - K = 2950, tint = 0
It's funny, if you shoot a wide scene, you have a better chance of getting a bolt, but the bolt also looks smaller...

Sweet! Nice to see the 1DMk2 in action. How is the little beauty?
I saw your pool tests with the SeaCam. Hope you are going to post something on Wetpixel soon about what the housing is like.
Alex
was the mk2 in a housing when you shot those (in case it rained, lol) ?
Love those pics James. #1 is my favorite - the sky looks so ominous. That storm kept me up all night....
My cul-de-sac is a magnet for strikes, so I'm always afraid to go outside when there's lightning.......wouldn't want to risk damaging the camera....

It stormed here in DFW as well. From about 3am to who knows when. Thankfully the power went out, and I got to sleep in due to alarm clock malfunction.
Them is great clouds.

Thanks guys! I am loving this - these long exposures are just something I couldn't do w/ the Kodak.

So how is the new housing?
The housing is brilliant - but I didn't use it for this shoot as the rain hadn't come yet. The Seacam 1D housing is about the same size as other housings I've used for the D100, S2, Kodak, etc - even though the 1D is a much bigger camera.

with clouds and trees like that, this would have been fun with an IR filter. Although Im not a canon guy, most of my friends are. I dont think any of them have tried IR type stuff yet.
I was reading about the D2X and IR filters, seems the older nikons are better suited for that...i wonder about the new canons.
Nice shots.
Its looks like in 5 more minutes of shooting it will become an U/W photography.
