  1. Brac Reef Beach Resort?

Has anyone here been to the Brac Reef Beach resort?

What did you think? I'm planning a trip and this seems like a nice place. Nice rooms, good photo shop. I'd also appreciate any thoughts on other resorts on Brac. Any place else I should consider? Thanks.

  2. I stayed there a few years ago and it was great. The food is real good the diving is real good. This is I believe the sister resort to the Little Cayman Beach Resort. It is very peaceful here.

  3. We've been there

We've stayed at the Brac Reef a number of times, it is nice. We also have stayed at the Divi a number of times. The beach area is maybe a tiny bit better at the Brac Reef, but the food and the dive boats were a bit better at the Divi. The Brac Reef has some really nice new Newtons, since they are big they have been having quite a few people on the boat, the food at the Divi and the Brac Reef was mostly buffet but we like the food at the Divi better than the Brac Reef. Either place is a win.

    Dan,

Thanksgiving week in 2003 and 2004 I led group trips there. Great peaceful place without being too big....Several of the Divemasters are photographers and will point out things.

Check out one gallery with some "normal" pics and "modified" ones at: www.pbase.com/dhaas .

I also shot the test photos with the Canon G6 under the "What's New" link at www.ikelite.com there this past Thanksgiving (2004)

Hope this helps...Email me privately if you want the divemaster's names I liked.

  5. Have led several trips there....a great place to stay. Their fleet of Newton dive boats is excellent, and the service on the dive boats is fantastic. They have NITROX available too.

They usually take you to Bloody Bay Wall off Little Cayman on at least one day, so it is the best of both worlds. Of course the diving on wreck of the Tibbets is always a treat. The only down side is the lack of shore diving from the resort.

The divemasters there ofetn have people getting crushes on them :D

he he the brac reef divers crew are great guys ... Martin the big SA guy in charge is a great guy and he has some awesome people underhim. I would if I were you go to the Brac Reef and Reefdivers, you'll find you get treated more like an individual than at the Divi chain. My opinion.

I was just told by my old work colleagues (Bob Soto's Reef Divers) that after struggling post Hurricane Ivan they are moving all their assets to Little Cayman and Cayman Brac and giving up in Cayman. That means the Name Bob Soto's one of the best known and longest running commercial dive companies is gone :( I have dived and worked with them so many times, what a history to loose. It is owned by the same guy that owns ReefDivers and hence he is going back to concentrate apparently on the sister islands. I am sad for that.

Anyway .. Brac is a nice place to stay for diving .. Although most would admit the Little Cayman Diving is better, but you can normally dive both islands from either place. Enjoy the Destroyer ;)

  7. Thanks everyone for the great feedback. The wetpixel community rocks!! Quick, friendly, quality advice.

I'm looking forward to going to Brac Reff.
