Just got my TTL adapter from mike-dive. Need some good pointers how to set the system up correctly.
My rig contains:
Oly C-8080WZ
Oly PT-023 housing
Sea&Sea YS-90Auto
Mike-Dive TTL adapter
What is the best mode to work this set-up? I'd like to do camera M mode, setting aperture and shutter manually, and use flash in manual settings as well. Auto1, Auto2 or TTL?
On manual mode Oly 8080 gives only slow sync on the flash, is that a problem? Should I do it Slow1 or Slow2?
I am going to test this set-up tomorrow in pool, so any commnets before that would be great!
Cheers,
/nico
Hi Nico,
Best way : M mode strobe(s) to TTL and you may do what you want the strobe is set to slow 1 this is OK .
Forget the strobe the cam does it for you, also in M mode in any combination of aperture and exposer time you decide if you want backlight oben aperture or black
background close aperture the exposer time is nice at 1/125 no blurry pics .
You can chose serial picture mode + super macro mode as you want the strobe will do as long there is enough energy. The ISO setting I cose is 100 for normal, minimum for makro and super makro and if I want to have a whole pool 25 m lighted up I set to 200 and aperture to 2.8 and 1/30 and the cam to slave strobe mode 10 and the strobes to full so you have 3 strobes inclouding the internal one but with the 8080 it is no good idea because it is nor posible to close the strobe again under water so I prefer to block the button with a short pice of a 12 mm PVC hose so you need your finger nail to press the button to aktivate the internal strobe.

Hey guys
Hi Mike
just to mirror mikes suggestions really nico, i use my setup with dual ys90duos and run it in M mode most of the time, strobes to TTL.
if i require a little more light i somtimes increase the flash compensation on the camera to +.7 or 1.3
or if i'm lazy i'll use A and set -1stop under on EXP comp just to underexpose the background a little then fill in with flash set to 0 exp comp.
if you wish to see some images from this setup please email me on craig@aquaimaging.co.uk.
