  1. I've been grounded (sorta) for the last two weeks due to the removable of my wisdom teeth and I was affraid with their removal my little knowledge of shooting split shots would be gone. Good thing I made a backup on to my front buck teeth!

Shot these this morning during the sunrise in Miami.

  2. Way Cool!

Number 3 is my favourite. Did you use a tripod or just hand hold?

What about a split neutral grad?

Hope your teeth don't hurt too much.

  3. Laz:

Great shots! Sorry to hear about your wisdom teeth. Hope you're back in the water soon. I keep checking your website for new photos and adventures.

  4. Laz,

Great to see you back online. If your winter out there is anything like it is here in Texas, you haven't missed much lately. Just got out for my first trip this weekend and it was rough but worth it.

My favorite shots are the long exposure topside shots. I love long exposures with water motion, it looks so smooooth.

    Is with the Oly?

    Cheers

  5. Nice shots Laz,

I (like James) also love the two first shots! Especially #2. Nice composition, blurring of the water, very moody, and the good contrasty shapes of the tree make it a great pic!

    Get well soon!

    Peace,

    David

  6. Anthp - the split shots were all hand held using my Olympus 5050 and the Inon wide-angle dome. For the topside photos, taken with my Canon 20D, I did use a tripod (long exposure shots) without the use of a neutral density filter. These shots are taken a few minutes before the sun has risen. I do think a ND filter would be beneficial when shooting a little later when the sky is brightly lit, though.

Doug - thanks. I'm doing fine. The operation was painless. I'm just being really careful not to end up with a complication due to excessive pressure. No sense ruining a couple of months of diving over missing a couple of weeks. The web site has not received any visible changes but believe me, I'm doing plenty of work on it. I have pretty much rebuilt the whole backend to make my workflow almost too easy to add new images and then some (surprise). She'll be up and running with the changes soon. I did see your web site the other day. Good stuff! You had a chance to see the lemon sharks this year, I see. Have you gone to see the Goliath Groupers at the Hole in the Wall?

James - the winter (if you can call it that) here has been great. There's always plenty to see and there's the hope of catching a glimpse at something rare that makes its passage through our waters during the winter months (ie. whales, etc.). I've just been balancing it out a bit with more top side photography too and plenty of mangrove/kayaking stuff.

Thanks for the good wishes and nice compliments on the photos, everyone.

  7. Thanks for the feedback.

You've inspired me to go and try to create something similar myself!

Best wishes with the teeth and look forward to seeing some more shots -kayaking counts as wetpixel doesn't it
