PT-010 Housing - Do I use the weight bar?

5 posts
  1. I have my PT-010 housing and just received my Ultralite tray and arms yesterday (which I really think I'm going to love) and my Ikelite DS-125 strobe is on the way but I have a question about the housing/weight.

Do I use the weight that came with the housing, or is that not needed with the arms and strobe? If I do use it, I'm not sure how to assemble it with the Ultralite tray and the housing (as to what goes where and in what order).

    I'm looking for your wisdom.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. You won't need it with tray and strobe. You should be just a little bit negative as is.

  3. I just bought the Ikelite DS125 kit (with tray and arm) for the PT10 - the counter weight is "built in" so you can do away with the weight from UN (supplier to Oly) - unfortunately Ike has built in a little too much weight and the thing sinks like the Titanic.

  4. My PT-010 with fisheye tray and YS90DX is rather buoyant. Unfortunately i cannot fix the Oly weight bar to the tray.

Has anybody with the same setup found a solution ?

  5. Bine,

There's a way to mount the UN buoyancy weight under the Fisheye tray. First you'll need a tripod screw that's a little longer than the one that came with the FISHEYE tray. Any tripod screw should work because the tripod mount thread on the PT-010 is pretty much standard make sure it's longer than the Fisheye tray

Once you locate a longer screw, you'll need to switch the screw. Use the UN buoyancy screw to mount the housing to the Fish Eye tray and use the existing thread under the UN screw to mount the UN buoyancy weight.

I hope this makes sense and good luck!!!

    Regards,

    Allan
