  1. Hello everyone

i have a 5050 and it never missed a beat except for battery troubles but the other day went to use it around the house and the screen came up grey with a sort of streaked apperance :D pulled the card out and had a look on the puter and it came up the same we were thinkin ccd but i was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem

By the way great forum it is extremely helpful

  2. I've had my 5050 for about 2 years now and it's been a gem. I've taken several thousand pictures with it and have never had even the slightest problem with the function or the body. Hope I didn't just jinx myself.

My recommendation is to send it back to olympus ASAP and get them to fix it. Tell them to give it a good once over - and I think they'll clean it as well.

  3. The camera has probably been dropped. Impact will cause these streaks.

  4. A dying battery that won't take a charge can cause problems. Are you able to check it on AC power? I just have a general rule to always eliminate the power as a cause of problems, floowoed by strobe cords.

  5. Hi , I can assure the camera has not been dropped we have spoken to a local repairer and he seems to think its either ccd or the lens but i'll try the batteries as we have a lot of different sets thanks for the replies i'll keep you posted

  6. i think u r right about the CCD....some of my friends encountered the same problem. I hope your warranty is still valid.

  8. Hi

just got the quote back they said it was the lens assembly the only thing we can think of is it was used in super macro mode the last time it worked

but just hoping it is replaced with the same 1.8 lens not the newer one and the cost was at the bottom end of the scale so we are happy

    thanx again
