Nikon 17-35

  1. I just recently purchased a nikon 17-35 mm zoom lense for my camera. I have the NX-100 sea & sea housing with fisheye domeport. Does anyone know what I need in terms of diopter with this lens. Also the Sea & Sea website stated the gear for the 105 macro lense will work for for the 17-35 mm but a representative at backscatter told me this will not work. Has anyone used this setup (17-35 mm with 105 gear) before? I have only used the nikonos for wide angle and just need some advice. Thanks.

  2. Port setup is very important to get the best out a lens like this. Otherwise your corner sharpness can really suffer at wide apertures. I don't know the Sea and Sea ports - but it is well worth waiting to hear from someone who has actually used the lens.

  3. Your information is correct the Sea & Sea Gear listed in their chart will not work. We can fabricate a custom zoom gear for you, contact me for information. The SX Extension ring with the Fisheye Dome port is the correct setup, adding a +2 Diopter lens will help with the corner sharpness.

Check the various articles in "Lenses, Port, and Domes' in the above link. You will see that the largest dome diameter you can get will be best.
