After using my 5060 setup for a year I realize that I am hooked and will buy a Canon 20d soon. I am still new at this and was wondering why I can purchase the 20d (body only) online for $749.00 at BestChoiceDigital or spend $1244.00 at a place like 42nd Street Photo. Is this some kind of a set up? Those with expierience with buying this type of equipment I would love to hear what you have to say. If they are gray market cameras does this make them more likely to have problems? The rest of the setup will come from Ryan have not decided on Ikelite or Subdal. Thanks for your imput. B)

Price difference on a new Canon 20D

When you order the 20D for $749.00, I expect that it will not include some minor items that you will pay extra for. Minor things like any and all supplements in the standard Canon approved dealer product. (cords, manuals, probably even the darn box.) Be sure you check with Canon website for the current package, and with any dealer for what THEY are including. It's a lot like buying a car- buyer beware. Personally, I do not mind a gray market product on lenses, supplementary products, but with the primary investment and biggest bucks on the camera, I want to send it right to Canon if I have a warranty issue. ( I have the camera and it is all I expected, and more.) I am also pricing the Ikelite setup with a couple of ports, and dual 125 strobes. Any dealers out there- e-mail me a quote. (housing, dual 125's, and port 17--85 ISM w/case for starts.)
I also think the 17-85 ISM lens is the way to go up front- the 18-55 is cheaper after market, than the 17-85 in a package.
Shop your dealers, aand pay by credit card. I just went through it also.

Go to resellerratings.com and search on bestchoice digital. Out of a possible score of 10 they have managed to get a score of 0.12. Not very highly rated. If you look at reputable guys like B&H they have a score of 8.8. Of course you might get lucky but I always look at reseller ratings to see if they guys are legitimate or not.

Good advice. It took two months and American Express involvement before Wells Digital in Delaware delivered everything promised. Not worth the headache for a few bucks.

Thanks for your help. I guess it goes under the heading of "too good to be true, it probably is!" B)
