Some subursts i'm somewhat pleased with, finally!

  1. Although i did have to tweak somewhat in PS (for the first time i have used the RGB paths seperately...) slowly learning the whole PS thing. Still no such thing as layers though....far too much work i would say.

But all 3 with D70, ISO 200, shocking on the settings 250 and 7.1, about 830am and 60-70ft. Turned out much better than many at 500-1000ss.

I would have upped the shutter but i was set for more of a horizontal shot when they swooped in at fast speed right over top of me, i tell ya no cooperation at all with these damn mantas...

  2. You've made them look very cooperative Mike - really great sunbursts and shots! I would personally prefer a little more contrast in the pics, but then you might loose some of the detail in the manta bellies, so I think you've chosen the right approach.

Layers are mainly useful for undoing bad edits later on...

    Excellent shots, must reiterate! :)

  3. Awesome Mike......they sure look pretty cooperative to me! What lens?

  4. They look very excellent to me. Athough I am outside at the moment - will comment again once I have looked at them out of the sun!

  5. I've seen them inside now and they are fabulous. Excellent images Mike, even by your standards. Particularly the second one.

It would be great if you could add these to the Digital Sunburst thread. That should make that qualify for the Best of Wetpixel soon!

I would be interested to see a straight from camera and a processed version. As well as hearing how far away your manual exposure was from the what the matrix-meter wanted you to do?

  6. Thanks for the comments guys, i agree that the second is also my fave.

Will add to the sunburst thread, and probably add the straight from camera with it.

Matrix meter on the camera? Didn't even look, point and shoot baby! I had it set up for a parallel shot so that is what i had metered it to, the mantas came out of nowhere. I would think i was off by a couple of stops...

More concerned with getting that sloww as molasses auto focus to catch...
