I'm just back from the Wetpixel Bahamas shark trip aboard the Shear Water. I haven't had a chance to post my photos yet, but thought I'd share a teaser with you all just to set the mood until everyone's trip reports are finished.
Here's one of my favorites - a tiger shark and a great hammerhead - in the blue:
1DmkII, Sigma 12-24 lens, Dual SS200's
I can't wait to share more about this trip with everyone - I learned SOOOO much, both about sharks and about photography. More to come soon.
Cheers
James
You lucky bugger. Got both!
Did you tell the Hammerhead to hang out till June when I come? That looks like Siefferts shot that is on the boat called "Double Trouble".
You got me excited about going now and look forward to seeing all the shots.
Was that at Tiger Beach or out in deeper water?
Hi Todd,
Yeah, double trouble! Jimmy says it's one of only a few shots with both that he's seen (although I'm sure there are more).
It's at one of the deeper hammerhead spots. We had great conditions at Tiger Beach one day with literally unlimited viz - can't wait to post those.
Cheers
James
Looks great James!
The vis looks remarkable. Guessing that the Hammer was at least 30 feet away?
So how did you like the camera setup? This was your first "real" trip with it, yes?
Really looking forward to seeing everyone's images. I have been checking various personal websites in anticipation...
That one rocks.
Alex
Hi Guys,
The tiger was about 6 feet away and the great hammerhead was about 15 feet away. With the Sigma 12-24, I could just about touch a tiger shark and still get it in the frame.
The Canon/Seacam housing worked flawlessly. I was very pleased - no fuss and very reliable.
More pix coming soon, however, I have to give a presentation at an industry workshop on Thursday, so don't have much free time.
Cheers
James
I'm praying to the vis God's aready as July last year was about as bad as they had seen. Very limited with lots of particles in the water.
I would love to get that crystal clear vis this year. It owes me.
I, like Alex, really look forward to seeins some shots.
I can't see that shot! Where'd it go?
Lots of great looking stuff on the posts so far. Lots of gear too it seems...
I really want to do that trip, hope everyone had a blast and there weren't any Nikon vs Canon scraps!!!
I'm going to link this thread from the front page of Wetpixel, too.
these are some amazing photos you took out there guys! i am gobsmacked...
it helps calm the withdrawal symptons until i can get wet again
Have to go diving - but have just had a flash through Eric. Excellent.
I like the vertical tiger on tiger beach, the fast moving reef shark and the lemon shark shots most of all.
Unbelievable week. I will be there next year for sure.
Alex
Great stuff Eric!
I too like the vertical Tiger and the sunset shot with the Tiger.
Nice to see that Jimmy did add some cubby holes. He was mentioning that last year. You should get Jimmy to post some shots from his "macro" collection.
Sorry I couldn't join you busy time here. Maybe next year.
Inspiring shots guys. Eric, your website report is really great. I'm too getting excited by the prospect of diving with these sharks. Thanks for putting it together. I'm sure it's a lot of work.
I did have a question on the Subal housing. You said there was an issue with it and was wondering if you'd share the problem and solution. Migh help me in the future.

Shutter lever needed adjustment, as when the camera was mounted, the lever would half press the shutter, locking out other controls.
