I have just got my 20D. Is there a setting in the camera that tell it to use an external strobe?

Nope, the 20D will trigger a strobe attached to the hotshoe regardless....and unless you're using ETTL compatible strobes/circuitry the Exif will say "External Flash did not fire"

I just got my housing and when I attach the hot shoe in the camera it is not firing the strobe(s) I also tried puting my Olumpus in the A20 housing th fire the strobe but it did not either? the wires look fine and new as is the housing any ideas?

What strobe and what housing? I have a Subal for the 10D with S&S YS120s, a friend has the 20D with the same strobes and housing, no problems.

I have the Aquatica A20 and using YS90DX Duo strobes. I have tested the sync cord and if fires, so the problem seems like the bulkhead to hot shoe, I have 2 bulkheads and both don't fire?

How many pins are there coming out of your housing hot-shoe?
All you want or need with that housing is one in the center.

I have one in the center, the 20D camera will fire the strobe in my tetra housing so the problem has to be the bulkheads, both of them, very strange.

It was the shoe that fits into the camera, one of the contacts is to short, so it does not earth, I'll send it back.

Each of the pins has a tiny spring inside. Try opening up the shoe and work the pin in and out a few times - you can probably get it unstuck that way and won't have to send it back in.

It's a strange design but unfortunaly has to go back, but I did rig a fix for now with some kitchen foil, it works for now.

I emailed Aquatica and they Fed Ex'd a new bulkhead in 2 days! now that's service! They called my twice to make sure I got what I needed, it's been a very long time since I got that kind of service. Thanks Aquatica.
